Overview

The Physiotherapist report highlighted that even if manual handling techniques are observed when lifting a 63kg Integra Welding Cylinder, the risk of injury is not avoided from lifting this awkwardly shaped cylinder.

In fact, a number of potential injuries have been identified that could be sustained as a direct outcome of handling / lifting Argon Gas Cylinder Tanks, including:

  • Prolapsed intervertebral disc
  • Knee injuries such as patella-femoral inflammation
  • Medical Injuries such as inguinal hernias affecting the abdomina| area
  • Possible upper limb work related disorders affecting the rotator cuff of the shoulder
  • Neck injuries in the form of cervical prolapsed discs risk
  • Risk of Injury to the lumbar facet joints in the final stage of the lift
