The Cylinder Lifter for Colleges and Training Centres
Welding learners pick up their habits in your workshop. Give them a safe, simple way to change gas cylinders from their first term, and take a heavy lift off your technicians and instructors at the same time.
Lots of booths, lots of cylinder changes
A welding workshop in a college or training centre can have a cylinder on every booth, and sooner or later they all run out. The change often falls to a technician or instructor between sessions, or to a learner who has never handled a full cylinder. A large argon or mixed-gas cylinder can weigh 80 kg or more, so lifting one onto a welder by hand puts backs, shoulders and elbows at risk. In a room full of learners, a cylinder that slips is a danger to everyone nearby.
A routine every learner can follow
- 1Secure. Fix the cylinder to the frame with the ratchet strap.
- 2Lift. Use the pivot to raise it off the floor, so the frame carries the weight.
- 3Roll. Wheel it to the booth.
- 4Lower. Set it down on the welder's cylinder carrier, up to 250 mm high, and chain it in place.
Because it's the same four steps every time, it's easy to demonstrate, to add to your workshop safety rules and to check that learners follow it.
Why it works in a teaching workshop
- It shows good practice. Learners see heavy cylinders handled with the right equipment, not muscle.
- One person can do it. Only about 14 kg reaches the handle, so a technician doesn't need to find a second pair of hands.
- Always ready. No motor, battery or hydraulics, so there's nothing to charge before a session.
- Takes full-size cylinders. Up to 100 kg and around 254 mm in diameter.
- Made to take knocks. A powder-coated steel frame, puncture-proof wheels and an anti-slip foot grip.
- Made in the UK. CE and UKCA marked, with a 12-month warranty.
